When we first started our adventure, we bought a used fryer from North America and this became the starting point for Lantchips and pot-fried potatoes in Sweden. The process is simple: we wash the potatoes, slice and fry them in sunflower oil, at a relatively low temperature, much like making chips at home but on a larger scale. The chips are then seasoned and finally packaged.

In the “normal” chips manufacturing the potato slices are usually blanched before they are fried. This means that the starch is washed out and the chips become bright. We refrain from this step and since the skin is also left, the starch and content of the potato is preserved when it is fried. Which also results in varying colors of the chips depending on the season and time of the year. This also creates a crunchy chip with approximately 20% lower fat content than “regular” chips.

We usually say ourself “chips for real”. One thing worth mentioning is that since the first fryer we have improved and built our own fryers. This is also a secret behind our unique “crisp”.

We fry our chips in sunflower oil, both organic and conventional. Therefore we do not use palm oil in our production.

The only allergen we use in our factory is milk. Where the milk is in a product it is clearly stated on the bag.

Parts of our range can actually be found in the vast majority of grocery stores.

For our Swedish Lantchips products, we use potatoes that are specially grown for chip production. Some of the varieties we use include Saturna, Lady Claire and Lady Rosetta, which are mainly grown in Skåne, Västergötland and Östergötland.

Is everything organic? We manufacture both organic and conventional chips. In the organic chips, the potatoes, oil and seasoning are organically certified.

Today, all our LantChips are produced in Hovsjö, Södertälje in Södermanland and we have been here since 1998. However, everything started in the area around Dals-Ed in Dalsland.
